Welcome to the Blog-o-sphere

We here at Alexis Bailly Vineyard are not really super-sophisticated when it comes to modern technology. We still have a dial-up connection for the internet and a rotary phone in our office.

We make wine the old fashioned way. We don't have computers to monitor our fermentations, we punch down our caps by hand, no automated bottling machine here.

No, when we want to bottle wine we just call a bunch of our friends and hand fill every bottle with an old gravity-fed 6 bottle GAI bottling machine. Hand filled, corked, capped and labeled. Sure it takes all day, but as a friend who uses a 4 bottle GAI bottling machine in his Napa Valley winery says, "I like bottling...if I finished too early I'd have to do something else." Thank you Andy.

So what are we doing here in the blog-o-sphere? That's a good question. It's not that we think we can add anything to this already crowded universe out here on the web. Mostly it's just that we wanted to share with you some of our thoughts on wine and events at the winery.

And to hear back from you. That's what this technology is really about, sharing ideas and experiences. So if you have a comment on the wines, or an experience you've had at the winery, we want to hear about it.

Hopefully you'll check back once in a while to see what's going on out here on the prairie, where we make wine for you to enjoy...one bottle at a time.

  1. Thank you for an absolutely lovely Sunday afternoon on August 9. The trees provided cool shade to experience the fun of the Brass Messengers Band while sipping several kinds of ABV wines including a special sangria recipe. I love the addition to the winery building, from which we purchased yummy munchies and souvenirs. The newer areas surrounding the building provided a variety of activities for those so inclined, as well as an uncrowded feeling, despite the numbers of people present to celebrate the summer. Congratulations!
